Purchased the TD Sol around end of 2022. Initially it performed well, really like the light weight and smooth action. Toward end of 2023 problems began after relatively light use. The reel began to feel crunchy when winding. By end of 2023 I returned it to Daiwa for inspection. It was a couple weeks out of 12month warranty. After over two months an a couple phone calls to chase up, Daiwa replaced corroded parts in the reel and charged over $200, advising it failed due to salt damage. The reel had little use and none of the 6 other reels that accompany it on a fishing trip suffered similar problems. All of which are older, had more use than the TD Sol (mostly Shimano) and all are stored in the rocket launchers on the hard top while motoring. Now about 9 months after last repairs, the TD Sol is beginning to fail again, same crunchy wind action. Massively disappointed in Daiwa and this reel. General advise I’ve had from knowledgeable others about Daiwa reels is; you have to be fastidious with care and maintenance if using in salt water. Dont expect a bulletproof reel like a Shimano.
