The Shimano 24 Ocean Jigger LD 2500MG Lever Drag Overhead Jigging Reel is engineered for the serious angler, this high performance reel combines cutting edge technology with Shimano's quality build to deliver exceptional power, precision and durability.

The newly developed Infinity Drive structure reduces the weight of the handle rotation during high drag by up to 30% over conventional models. It solves one of the downsides of lever drags which tend to create a heavier handle rotation the higher the drag force becomes. It still maintains the advantage of no power loss due to heat generaton during extended fights which make it optimal for targeting large and powerful fish. The new T-type handle knob and 105mm cold forged handle arm along with the frame shape make the reel ergonomic and comfrotable to use during those extended fights while the drag lever ensures optimal drag operation. It also is supplied with a second light-line drag cam that is compatible with light lines in the PE1.5-2.5 range adding versitility to an already impressive setup.

Infinity Drive

Lever drag systems are able to achieve high drag pressures and allow for instantaneous, accurate drag adjustments. The disadvantage of this is it results in heavier handle rotation during the higher drag settings. In order to minimise heavier handle rotation the Ocea Jigger LD is equiped with a double drag structure with two drag washers. This allows the infinity drag system to produce high drag force with low thrust, significantly less binding achieving up to 30% reduction in rotational resistance when compared to conventional models of similar size.

Max Drag Force

The maximum drag force (when the lever is in the full position, tightened to the maximum while maintaining full free-spool) of the Ocea Jigger LD is 20kg. In addition, the highly durable drag system is less prone to heat snagging compared to the star drag system due to the reduced drag force of approximately 25% (compared to Ocea Jigger 2000) under certain conditions. As a result its easier to maintain stable drag pressures on large fish during those big fights.

High Drag Force - Compact Body

With a body that is comparable to the Ocea Jigger 2000, the Ocea Jigger LD is able to achieve a maximum drag force of 20kg! This exceeds the drag force provided by the Ocea Jigger 4000 of 18kg, which is the largest Shimano jigging star drag reel. It's compact body allows anglers to comfortably hold the reel in a single palm during heavy jigging sessions. This allows you to jig for longer sessions maximising your day on the water.

T-Handle and Arm

The Ocea Jigger LD is designed specifically for Jigging, therefore ergonomics and weight were a key design criteria that was prioritised. To reduce weight while maintaining rigidity and durability, 12g was cut out of the drive gear by making the insert aluminium and adopting a hollow core structure. The handle knob was made 12% larger to improve operability and feel comfortable in hand. The handle uses high-rigidty cold forged 105mm handle arm to allow for light winding while not losing force at a comfortable angle.

Redesigned Stopper

To provide extra customisation to suit your experience, Shimano has added the stopper button to help secure the lever at the strike position. This allows for better targeting mid-water species and also reduces the risk of over-tightening the drag accidentally for anglers not accustomed to lever drags. The stopper can also be turned off when jigging for species that require the angler to attack and defend near reefs, or for those that prefer not to use a stopper.

Light Line Cam

For further customisation, the Shimano Ocea Jigger LD allows you to replace the standard drag cam with the included light line cam. This might be helpful for the experienced angler targeting different fish species, changing the drag force to be smoother with PE1.5 to 2.5 line weights.
