Product Description

Breath-taking casting performance!

New for 2021, the Cast IZM is set to make its mark on the New Zealand surfcasting scene – and a long mark at that.

Optimal casting performance begins with blank design, and nothing was held back when constructing the blank of the Cast IZM. Featuring Daiwa’s exclusive graphite construction SVF (Super Volume Fiber), which combines precise resin control with unidirectional graphite to produce a blank with maximum graphite density, the blank of the Cast IZM is extremely lightweight, powerful, and sensitive. X45 Bias Wrap construction is integrated to radically improve strength and durability by eliminating twist and preventing blank distortion under load. To compliment this Daiwa has utilized revolutionary ferrule technology in V-Joint Alpha. This allows the ferrule of the Cast IZM to flex with the rod, resulting in a multi-piece blank with performance comparable to a one-piece blank in flex, power, and responsiveness. Not content, Daiwa designers went a step further and added a hybrid tip with heightened bite sensitivity. Megatop, comprised of a new SVF-SPX material, allows for the construction of a solid tip with extremely even distribution of fibers. The result is a tip section with virtually no spine that is capable of bending with the same angle in any direction.

A purpose-built casting instrument requires the best componentry available. To that end the Cast IZM uses Fuji stainless steel lowrider guides with SiC inserts, and a Fuji NS-7 plate style reel seat. All unnecessary components have been removed from the handle section, and an anti-slip coating has been used on all parts held by the thrower. An ergonomic heel base finishes the build providing the perfect secure grip for performing technical casts.

Expert Review

I have been searching for the ultimate surfcasting rod for a number of years now, sifting through Multiple “high end’’ rods on the market. For some reason I just couldn’t seem to find the rod that ticked all the boxes for me…one that felt like home! Then finally that painful search ended when I walked into a nearby fishing store! I was immediately impressed by the striking Bright burnt orange Daiwa Castizm that greeted me from a distance and allured me to investigate further! As I picked the rod off from the shelf, I was blown away by the immaculate construction, top quality components and the overall feel of the rod. A few minutes later I left the shop with a smile on my face and a new weapon in hand! From the first cast I was not disappointed! The blank loaded effortlessly with a with a 5-ounce sinker and sent my bait sailing out into the depths. Although many rods can look nice, it doesn’t always guarantee they will perform well. This rod certainly did not disappoint! Landing my first snapper was an experience of pure joy. The way the hybrid tip flexed and absorbed the explosive runs of the fish gave the rod a unique feel and sensitivity. I felt totally connected to the fish the whole way through and could feel its every twitch! Although the tip has a softer action, you don’t need be afraid to put some muscle into a decent cast. This rod is well equipped for a solid thrash! There is plenty of lowdown grunt in the mid and butt section for those hard, long-distance casts. I’m yet to tap into its full power! A lot of thought has gone into the construction of this rod, from top to bottom. The balance between castability and fishability has been perfectly matched, providing a Rod with power, responsiveness, and absolute control. I have been using these rods for quite some time now and would highly recommend them to any serious surfcaster looking for a rod packed with quality features across the board. The rod will continue to perform well under the harsher NZ conditions and will produce a fishing experience that will continue to satisfy for years to come.
