The Shimano SLX 150HG Baitcaster Reel brings about some serious durability for a reel that sits sub $150. Incorporating some for Shimanos leading technology into a reel that sits at the entry-level of the market. Inside the SHIMANO SLX’s Hagane Body, brass gearing delivers reliable cranking power and three SUS bearings and one roller bearing means everything turns smoothly. The reel incorporates a compact design that is comparable to a 70 sized Curado, however the reel has the same line capacity as Shimano’s standard 150 sized reels, fitting 150m of 20lb Power Pro. A longer 45mm Throw Handle working in conjunction with two model options featuring gear ratios of 6.3:1 and 7.2:1 means that the slow and methodical lure worker and the angler who likes a bit of speed are well covered by the new SLX series. On top of this, max’ drag settings of between 5 and 5.5kg provides some amazing stopping power should it be needed.

Hagane Body
The Hagane Body is produced from high-rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock solid housing and support of the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.

VBS
VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in controlling the cast. The individual brake weights, when turned on, are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens, allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more consistent spool speed that is easier t manage and takes advantage of the reel's maximum casting distance.
