4.5/5

We've just been on our first camping trip in this tent. It took us about 1.5 hours to pitch the tent with two adults. Blackout Vs. Standard Fly If you are tossing up the blackout vs. standard version, here are some thoughts. The blackout coating is extremely effective at blocking light and heat. It is definitely cooler (a plus if you are camping in full sun) and would create a wonderful sleeping environment for young children going to bed while it is still light. However it can also be quite inconvenient - I found myself needing artificial lighting inside the tent in the middle of the day (needing a torch to find items in my bag!) I also found I needed a headlamp at times while pitching the tent (tying the fly to the inner) as I couldn't see what I was doing. We were fortunate to have great weather - on a poor weather day with windows needing to stay closed, it would be like a cave. It is a proper BLACKOUT Pros: Nice large footprint was perfect for our family. Felt like good quality. Great routing for power cables if you are staying at a powered site. Lots of well thought-out design work including ventilation to keep you cool. Tons of tie downs. Large/heavy tent is stored in two canvas bags making it much easier to lift. Cons: The tent is very high - pitching the fly over the inner is a physically demanding, two-person job. Back door has no toggles to tie it up so it just sits there waiting to be stepped on. All other doors have toggles so I have no idea why this was missed.
